The area is home to endless miles of singletrack for mountain bikers, steep climbs and mellow roadways perfect for road cyclists, and paved, multi-use paths along the Truckee River and the shores of Lake Tahoe for families who love bikes. Make Palisades Tahoe your summer home base and you’ll be in the center of the action and at a great place to start a variety of rides.

      Kayak & SUP
      Explore the pristine blue waters of Lake Tahoe on a kayak or paddleboard. This is a great way to see the lake from a different perspective and squeeze in some exercise. Tahoe City Kayak is the closest option.

      Hiking
      Some of the region's best hikes are right here at Palisades Tahoe. In Olympic Valley near the base of Palisades, hike the three fairly strenuous miles to High Camp on the Shirley Canyon Trail and take the Aerial Tram down for free!

      For a short jaunt with a beautiful lake view, try Eagle Rock on the West Shore, and stop at the West Shore Market for refreshments afterward.

      Enjoy a round of golf surrounded by exquisite views of Palisades Tahoe when you play at the Resort At Squaw Creek.

      Looking to play at other locations around the lake? Just ten minutes away, you can tee of at the Tahoe City Golf Course, which offers great family-friendly options, or at the beautiful Old Brockway Golf Course in Kings Beach that offers a lake view.

      Fly Fishing
      Be sure to get a valid license before you try your hand at fishing! The closest spot to get a license near Palisades Tahoe is Swiggards Hardware in Tahoe City. Some top fishing spots in our area include the Truckee River and Pyramid Lake.

      Want to take a class or go with a guide? We recommend Alpine Fly Fishing. For gear & rentals, you can stop in Trout Creek Outfitters in Truckee.

      Skateboarding
      In Truckee, you can access the free Truckee Skate Park that is open to all ages. They're even planning an expansion!

      Incline Village on the Nevada side of the lake also has a free, all-ages skatepark. For all your skateboarding needs, you can visit Lady Luck Skate Shop in Tahoe City or King's Beach.

      Dining & Drinks in the Tahoe Basin
      In Truckee, grab a bite at Old Town Tap in the heart of the Historic Downtown or a beer around the corner at the popular community spot Alibi Ale Works. Get your caffeine fix at Coffeebar's Truckee location, or a filling breakfast at Donner Lake Kitchen.

      In Tahoe City, visit Pioneer Cocktail Club for delicious food and trendy drinks. For something quicker, visit Sips. Hidden in a liquor store, this popular little spot also serves Poke while playing classic ski movies.

      For something higher-end, try Wolfdale's in Tahoe City or Gar Woods in Carnelian Bay.

      Visit Reno
      Reno is one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the country. Teeming with artists, musicians, & a dynamic food scene, there are plenty of places worth visiting.

      For breakfast, visit Perenn Bakery. For lunch, check out award-winning Süp in midtown. For dinner, head across the street to Midtown Eats, then visit their stunning neighbor Death & Taxes for a high-end cocktail & impressive liquor list.

      Ski & Ride at Palisades Tahoe
      This one goes without saying! Peruse ticket & pass options to get started on exploring the legendary terrain at these two world-class mountains. For the most mountain access, you'll want an Ikon Pass.

      Cross Country Skiing
      Tahoe offers several exciting areas for participation in cross country skiing, including the Resort at Squaw Creek right here in the valley. Additional cross country skiing terrain is also available in Tahoe City.

      Ice Skating
      This winter, your best bet for ice skating is to make reservations with the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park. There is also a local rink in Truckee if you head north on Highway 89.

      Sledding
      There are several thrilling sledding hills in the North Tahoe area. The closest one is Granlibakken in Tahoe City. Another option is the North Lake Tahoe Regional Park.
