North Lake Tahoe AIARE 1 Hybrid Course

Alpenglow Expeditions' AIARE 1 Hybrid Course is a comprehensive, entry-level avalanche education program designed for skiers and snowboarders with basic touring experience. By moving 8+ hours of classroom learning online, they've created a format that works for busy schedules while maintaining the same rigorous learning outcomes.

You'll complete online coursework featuring videos, quizzes, and interactive lessons at your own pace before meeting your instructors for two full field days in North Lake Tahoe's exceptional backcountry terrain. Operating in partnership with the Tahoe National Forest and Truckee Donner Land Trust, you'll learn avalanche safety, terrain assessment, decision-making, and companion rescue in some of the best training terrain in the region.

This course is taught by Alpenglow Expeditions, an AMGA-accredited guide service with 15+ years of experience on peaks around the world. If you have less than 5 days of backcountry experience, we recommend starting with our Backcountry 1.0 course first.
