Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely. Kids Adventure Camp operates Monday through Friday, making it easy to fit into most family vacation itineraries. Parents can choose individual camp days or purchase flexible multi-day packs to align with their travel schedule. Please note that camp is not offered on Saturdays or Sundays.
Where do we drop off and pick up our children for summer camp?
Camp drop-off and pick-up take place directly at the Palisades Kids building. This facility is centrally located between the Red Dog chairlift and the Base to Base Gondola in the Olympic Valley base area.
Does the day camp program include any mountain resort activities?
Yes, every registration includes full access to a robust lineup of resort experiences. Campers ride the iconic Aerial Tram to High Camp and can participate in premium outdoor activities ranging from eco-hikes and disc golf to our climbing wall and bungee trampoline.
Where will my child spend their day during camp?
During a typical day at our North Lake Tahoe summer day camp, your child will explore the lower mountain trail systems as well as the High Camp area on the upper mountain alongside their group counselor. From beautiful waterfall hikes to alpine discovery at High Camp, your child will experience the best of Olympic Valley.
Will my children be grouped with campers their own age?
Yes, our kids summer camp is structured into two distinct developmental divisions to optimize their experience. The Explorers group serves ages 5 to 7, while the Mountaineers group caters to ages 8 to 13. Activities are custom-tailored to the cognitive and physical abilities of each specific age bracket.
What fitness level is required for the mountain eco-hikes?
Our guided mountain hikes vary in distance and difficulty. Group counselors tailor the routes to match the physical capabilities of their specific campers, with most hikes tracking between 1 and 3 miles. Please note that this outdoor summer day camp is physically engaging, and participants spend the majority of the day active outdoors.
What does the kids summer camp do on days with inclement weather?
While summer weather in the North Lake Tahoe region is typically sunny, we are fully prepared for shifting mountain conditions. If inclement weather occurs, we move to engaging indoor and lower-mountain activities including youth yoga, interactive cooking challenges, nature crafts, and indoor rock climbing.
What should I pack in my child’s camp backpack?
To ensure your child is prepared for changing North Lake Tahoe mountain weather, please pack a water bottle, closed-toe athletic sneakers, sunscreen, a sun hat, a swimsuit, a towel, and warm layers such as a sweatshirt or light jacket.
Are snacks and lunch provided during the summer day camp?
Yes, enrollment includes a balanced lunch and nutritious snacks designed to keep energy levels high throughout a full day of mountain activity. If your child is a selective eater or has severe food allergies, we recommend packing a personal lunch and snack supply for the day.
How do I contact my child or their camp counselors during the day?
If you need to reach your child during camp hours, all group counselors carry mountain radios. You can coordinate communication through our guest services team inside the Aerial Tram building or by calling our main sales center directly at 1-800-403-0206.
What is the cancellation and refund policy for the adventure camp?
Single-day camp reservations are fully refundable if cancelled by 3:00 PM two days prior to your scheduled date. Cancellations made after this deadline are non-refundable or are subject to a $35 re-booking fee. Multi-day 5-Packs are non-refundable but may be rescheduled up to 3:00 PM two days prior to the camp date, subject to the same $35 change fee if adjusted later.
