Land of Freeski

Pro skier Cody Townsend's life changed forever when he first watched Scot Schmidt send the Fingers on 220cm long skis in Warren Miller's 1984 "Ski Country”. The segment was chock-full of iconic inbounds lines from the chutes of the Palisades to the rounded sandstone of The Rock Garden, all happening here. Fast-forward a years, Cody still remembers the first time he saw Shane McConkey in the KT lift line. Read about how growing up skiing alongside his idols shaped Cody into the skier he is today.

Family of Pioneers

Working on the terrain park crew in the early 2000s, Trevor Kekke was familiar with Shirley Lake Express. He knew it as the high-speed chair nestled back by Shirley Canyon. One nonchalant conversation with family, and now Kekke finds himself on a journey through history. Forming new connections with the lift, the lake, the canyon, and his great-aunt Shirley whom they were all named after.

Meet the golden gals who epitomize the 1980s skinny ski scene. Californian to their core, these legends mastered the arts of letting their hair down, sending off cornices, and ripping through moguls. That flare lives on in the historic collection of legendary photographer, Larry Prosor. Their golden smiles continue to enchant and inspire the next generations of legends.
